The Peace Garden is getting a makeover!

On Wednesday, 10th July, volunteers from NatWest came along to school to help us renovate The Peace Garden.

The children at St Philip's love this garden and have recently been using it at lunchtimes for different activities, from quiet reading to outdoor activities including building dens in the trees.

Over the year, with the bad weather and the regular use of the garden, it has needed some TLC and we were thrilled when our volunteers from NatWest offered to come along and help us!

They have cleared the bushes, laid down some special covering and then started work on laying gravel and bark so that the children will be able to use the area without worrying about the grass. The work is nearing completion and we are really keen to buy new furniture to go in it so that we can have a different spaces for us to use.

The NatWest volunteers have also been in school doing workshops with our Year 6, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils on the MoneySense programme too.

The children in Year 6 have learnt about how to keep safe online and, in particular, how to watch for the signs of fraud. They were amazing detectives and did fantastic presentations to show off what they had learnt. The children in Year 1 and 2 have completed workshops on how to look after their money.

We have to say a huge thank you to our friends from NatWest for doing an amazing job so far and we are looking forward to working with them again very soon!
