Christmas at St Philip's - our diary

Christmas has started here at St Philip's School. Come and read about the events that have been taking place in school!

Thursday 6th December

We began our Christmas activities with our Advent Service in Church. It was lovely to welcome parents and families to start our celebrations in the lead up to Christmas. Mister Rick reminded us that Advent means "waiting" for the arrival of Jesus. The children sang songs and the Sparkle Group wrote beautiful prayers reminding us about the importance of Advent and remembering the coming of Jesus.

At the end of the day, we enjoyed the "Make it A Reading Christmas" workshops and activities in Class. Families were invited into school to read Christmas books, chosen by the teachers, and do activities related to the book. Anyone who attended received free entry into the raffle to win a Kindle Fire. The book fair was also there for families to buy books for Christmas. Thanks to all who came along and supported this - there was a lovely buzz for reading around school!

Saturday, 8th December

The Church held a Christmas Party for adults over at church, with a live band and DJ. This is the second year that this party has taken place and is a means of raising money for the St Philip's Residential Fund. This fund provides the opportunity to subsidise places on our school residentials.

We are really lucky to be so well-supported by the team at St Philip's Church and would like to extend our thanks to all those who attended and supported this lovely event!

Thursday, 13th December

We are expecting a visit from Father Christmas for our Christmas Fair. Come along and join us for games, tombolas, refreshments and a chance to meet Father Christmas!

Thank you to the children and families for attending the school fair. We had a great time on all the stalls and there were plenty of winners on the tombolas, raffle and the games!

We raised over £400 for school which is absolutely brilliant!

Tuesday, 18th December

The Nativity Performance will take place at St Philip's Church. everyone is invited to come along. The performance will start at 9:30 and there will be refreshments served in church before the service. Please come along and join us!

It was super to see so many parents, carers and family members at our Nativity in Church. The children sang beautifully and the narrators knew all their words off by heart. The performance was brilliant. Thanks to all the teachers who helped put this together.

Thanks to the Church Team for their support and the refreshments beforehand. It really makes the performance so special to be able to sit and chat with you all!

Wednesday, 19th December

We will be enjoying our Christmas Dinner this week.

We had a lovely dinnertime today. Our EYs and KS1 children ate together followed by our Key Stage 2 children. We enjoyed a super Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and ice cream for pudding! DELICIOUS!

We took the time to thank our lunchtime staff who take such good care of us all year - even singing them a song!

Friday, 21st December

Come in your party clothes for our Party Day!
