March 4th - March 8th 2019 - Book Week
Throughout this week we have been celebrating a love of reading. Reading was everywhere!
Children had the opportunity to join the local library and all the classes visited to borrow books. Every class enjoyed the chance to go and the children had a great time picking books to take home and read. It was brilliant to see the children itching to read the books they had chosen!
We also had lots of visitors into school too - Salford Reds, Police Officers, Manchester Giants and our Governors. They were our secret readers who came in to read with the children. What great community spirit. Thanks to them all for supporting us and celebrating reading with us!
The Salford Reds have included an news item on their website about their visit to see us. Click here to read about it!
Head Coach, Ian Watson, said: “It’s fantastic to have the lads out in the community and doing activities with youngsters such as reading to them as part of World Book Week.
“We’ve got a great group of players at the moment who are more than willing to put themselves out into the community of Salford and promote fantastic initiatives such as this.
“It is important that children are reading from a young age and having positive male role models showing them that reading is enjoyable and beneficial can only help promote that in and around Salford.”
We also dressed up for World Book Day and bought our books from the school book shop. Take a look at the Gallery to see all our costumes and the fun we had choosing our new books - it was a great day!
We finished the week with some family activities in classrooms. It was a great to see so many families in school reading with the children.
It has been a brilliant week! Thank you to everyone who got involved!
